Midland staple Ski Skeller Sports closing its doors after 54 years

Mom-and-pop shop Ski Skeller Sports opened in Midland in November 1969.

After 54 years of serving the Midland outdoor sports community, Ski Skeller Sports will close its doors on July 8.

The beloved mom-and-pop shop has been Midland’s go-to retail spot for outdoor sports enthusiasts since 1969. Scott and Gina Ragan, the business owners, "have made the decision to retire and move closer to their grandchildren, bidding a fond farewell to the Midland community," according to a press release.

Ski Skeller will have its going-out-of-business sale, beginning on June 14 before being listed for sale/lease in early July, the press release stated.

Ski Skeller Sports, located at 3327 W. Wadley Ave., has been a family-owned and operated business for generations; first established by Dick Ragan before being taken over by his son, Scott, in 1997.

The Midland staple catered to "anyone seeking equipment and/or gear for an ever-evolving range of outdoor activities. From water sports to snow skiing, camping and beyond."
