Ireland arts organisation Drop Everything commissioned this mobile sauna, which designer Bernard Nally repurposed from a frozen goods trailer. Acid Etched Glass
Named Àith Allais (an ancient Irish word meaning ‘Sweat House’), the unusual adaptive reuse project is parked on Inis Oírr, the smallest of the Aran Islands in Galway Bay, where Drop Everything hosts its interdisciplinary cultural biennale.

The truck is already insulated and fitted with a rear door, but Nally cut into one of its sides to install a tempered glass window to frame the view. It has vents for airflow, and its white exterior recalls its original use and is decorated with orange trimming. Meanwhile, its interior fit-out includes cedar cladding, a woodburning sauna stove by Finnish brand Harvia, and tiered benches.
Glass railings Nally’s first build project for Drop Everything was an off-grid artist studio space named Studio Drop on Aran island. It has a cylindrical, timber green-washed structure with a hammock-style daybed and walls lining made from old trawler nets.
